Two people are dead after a crane collapsed Friday at an industrial site on a river just north of Boston.

One person died at the scene and a second person died at the hospital, according to Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria.

DeMaria said the two men, in their 30s and 40s, were dismantling the former Exxon site here where ships used to offload when the tragedy occurred.

The mayor said authorities believe the cable on the crane snapped, and the crane fell on the two men, who were cutting pipes off a nearby dock.
