Tabu To Nimrat Kaur, Stars Who Celebrated Rekha In Style At Umrao Jaan Screening

From gilded sarees to vibrant kurtas, Bollywood actors graced the Umrao Jaan red carpet in stylish looks.

The re-release of Umrao Jaan was a celebration of the art and the artist. Rekha who looked ethereal in Manish Malhotra couture, celebrated the screening with friends and family from the Indian Film Industry in Mumbai.
Keeping with Rekha’s traditional attire, the red carpet was graced with celebrities embracing Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary allure. While Alia paid ode to Rekha in a custom Tarun Tahiliani saree, which was inspired by Rekha’s pink saree in the film Silsila, Janhvi opted for an archival anarkali from filmmaker Muzaffar Ali’s couture label, House of Kotwara.

Hema Malini
The OG Dream Girl, Hema Malini exuded timeless elegance in a deep maroon meenakari jaal saree from label Roliana. The saree is enhanced with an elegant soft silk border and pallu. Hema completed the traditional look with a classic chic bun and styled it with a red rose.
Tabu
Tabu looked like a bride in Heena Kochhar’s ensemble. The red silk linen kurta was styled over a red silk chanderi skirt and paired with a red organza dupatta. Styled by Divyank Dsouza, the vibrant statement piece featured gota work that added opulence to the red kurta set. Tabu completed her desi look with a potli bag from Love to Bag.
Nimrat Kaur
Nimrat Kaur struck gold with this Raw Mango saree. Channelling her inner Rekha, Nimrat looked surreal in the honey toned sheer organza silk saree featuring floral motif jaal hand embroidered in dori kaam and sequins. Nimrat paired the saree with a Varanasi silk tissue brocade bustier that is highlighted with gold and silver naqshi hand-embroidery and sheer organza sleeves and body. Nimrat completed the look with gold jhumkas.
Vijay Varma
Styled by Vrinda Narang, Vijay Varma brought his A-game to the screening of Umrao Jaan in a statement piece from Nikhil Thampi’s new collection Naia. The ensemble in bold black elevates the traditional silhouette with distinctive details making a powerful statement in menswear. Exuding power and grace, Vijay further enhanced his style quotient with a quirky ear cuff from Tribe Amrapali.
