RM, 31, began by addressing the societal expectations that surround marriage, particularly the pressures often placed on women. “Especially for women, I feel like society and the media keep pressuring them about things like having kids and other expectations,” he said. He acknowledged the broader sense of pressure that everyone experiences, adding, “We’re all being pressured, but I just hope everyone can live life in their own way. I don’t think there’s a right answer.”
What RM said about marriage, loneliness, and self-awareness
Turning to the personal side of relationships, RM questioned whether marriage alone can alleviate loneliness. “If someone can’t handle being alone, would getting married even make things any better? Because even after marriage, you might want to be alone,” he reflected. He explained that those who are comfortable being alone will likely navigate relationships more successfully, while using marriage to escape loneliness can be complicated.

The Dynamite hitmaker also shared his contemplations about parenthood, expressing doubts about being ready to bring a new life into the world. “Because I’m still struggling to take care of myself, so how could I bring a new life into this world?” he admitted. He reflected on the unpredictability of children, recalling his own youth: “When I think about how much trouble I caused my parents when I was young… imagine having a kid like me? Ughhh! Although they could be adorable. That’s why there’s no answer.”
‘Everyone just has to go with their own choice’
The idol emphasised the importance of understanding others’ experiences without judgement. “The married speak from the perspective of a married person and vice versa, as we don’t know each other’s experiences,” RM explained. He noted that his generation in Korea—the ‘90s-born—is the first for whom marriage has become a true choice rather than an expectation. “So I think everyone just has to go with their own choice,” he added.

Rapper expresses filial gratitude and personal growth
The Indigo rapper reflected on his evolving relationship with his parents. “Ah, of course, I’m a filial son now, and honestly I don’t think there’s anyone as devoted as I am now. But when I was younger, I gave my parents a really hard time,” he said. He explained that he now treats them with care, describing it as “kind of like the law of cause and effect.” This reflection on family ties revealed a deep sense of maturity and self-awareness.
In conclusion, RM highlighted the importance of nurturing oneself both physically and mentally. “Building physical and mental nourishment are both important, so things like exercise and reading can give a lot to a person,” he said. While acknowledging that there is no one-size-fits-all solution, he added, “If I still had to pick things that are almost 100% good, I’d choose reading and exercising, because they don’t lie to you. Getting married doesn’t automatically get rid of your loneliness completely; I don’t think it does.”
