IndiGo flight 6E2141 made an emergency landing at Srinagar airport after encountering a hailstorm. All 227 passengers on board, along with the crew, landed safely. IndiGo flight 6E2141, which was flying from New Delhi to Srinagar, faced mid-air turbulence when it was very near Srinagar airport due to bad weather conditions, but it landed safely at Srinagar International Airport, officials said.
An airport official said that IndiGo flight 6E2142 encountered a hailstorm while en route from New Delhi to Srinagar. The turbulence in the plane created havoc among passengers, but the pilots’ efficiency enabled a safe landing.
He said the pilot immediately reported the emergency to the Srinagar Air Traffic Control (ATC), and despite the weather challenge, the flight landed safely at 6:45 pm. All 227 passengers and the aircrew are safe, the official said, adding that following the incident, the aircraft was declared “Aircraft on Ground” by the airline, indicating it requires inspection or maintenance before its next flight.

One passenger, Sheikh Samiullah, who was on board, said, “I am a regular traveler, but I have seen this type of turbulence for the first time. Everyone was scared, and I thought it was the last flight I would be boarding, but thank God, the way the pilot worked was really appreciable.”

IndiGo issues a press statement saying that the flight landed safely and customers were attended thereof. “IndiGo flight 6E 2142 operating from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar. The airport team attended to the customers after arrival of the aircraft, prioritizing their wellbeing and comfort. The aircraft will be released post necessary inspection and maintenance,” it said.
