Keith Urban ‘didn’t like’ Nicole Kidman’s ‘Babygirl’ before split

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s marriage appears to have reached a breaking point, with multiple insiders claiming tension between the couple grew last year as Kidman promoted her provocative film Babygirl

Earlier this week, Kidman filed for divorce, while Urban was spotted performing in Hershey, Pennsylvania, without his wedding ring, signaling the split was already in motion.

According to sources, Urban was never comfortable with Kidman’s involvement in the movie, which features her as a powerful CEO who begins an affair with her young intern, played by Harris Dickinson, while stuck in an unfulfilling marriage to a character portrayed by Antonio Banderas.

“Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie,” one Hollywood insider revealed.

Another source suggested the country star feared being mocked because of the storyline.

Signs of discomfort surfaced publicly last summer.

Urban was noticeably absent from Kidman’s side at the Venice Film Festival in August, where the film premiered, and again at the Toronto International Film Festival the following month.

Then, in July, his frustration appeared to spill over during an Australian radio interview. When asked about Kidman’s onscreen love scenes with younger men, Urban abruptly exited the call.

“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the producer of the show said at the time, while co-host Hayley Pearson noted it seemed they had “upset” Urban by asking something too personal.

Despite speculation, a source later told PEOPLE that Urban had not intentionally left the interview.

Still, the incident fueled rumours that his discomfort with Kidman’s projects was growing, a shift that surprised many since he had never shown any public objection to her work before.

Now, with the divorce filing and Urban’s missing wedding ring, the speculation has become reality.
