Jimmy Kimmel makes bold statement on first appearance at show after suspension

‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ first episode aired on September 23 following adjournment

Jimmy Kimmel has officially returned to his late night show following his impulsive adjournment.

On September 23, the first episode was aired by ABC after all the controversy triggered after Kimmel’s remarks about late Charlie Kirk.

On his much-awaited appearance, the 57-year-old popular TV host was welcomed by the audience with a standing ovation.

He opened his programme with a sarcastic joke, “If you’re just joining us, we are preempting your regularly scheduled encore episode of Celebrity Family Feud to bring you this special report.”

“I’m happy to be here tonight with you”, Jimmy expressed.

The American comedian admitted that he felt “overwhelmed” over the response he has received from people in the last six days.

“I’ve heard from all the people in the world over the last six days. Anyone I’ve ever met has reached out 10 or 11 times”, he added.

Kimmel thanked people who “supported the show, cared enough to do something about it, to make your voices heard so that mine will be heard. I will never forget it.”

Jimmy revealed that he was being told what to say on tonight’s show, but he preferred not to follow the advice as he thinks his word won’t make any “difference”.

“If you like me, you like me. If you don’t, you don’t. I have no illusions about changing anyone’s mind.”

While referencing to his comment about Kirk, the TV personality stated in his show that he had no intention “to make light of the murder of a young man.”

On September 17, Kimmel was banned from the show for an indefinite period by Disney’s ABC.
