Jason Derulo replies to man’s bizarre injury claims

Jason Derulo is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by two brothers who claim they were injured and mistreated while working at his California mansion.
Court documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that the singer, 35, has denied all allegations and asked that the case be thrown out.
The lawsuit, filed on May 8, accuses Derulo, his parents Jocelyne and Joel Desrouleaux, PePe Construction, and other parties of negligence, wrongful termination, emotional distress, and labor violations.
Juan Zetina and his brother Alvaro alleged that unsafe working conditions at the star’s Tarzana home caused serious injuries and financial setbacks.
According to the complaint, Juan was first hired for construction work at the property and was paid $300 per day in cash before later receiving checks.
He said he was instructed to use those payments to cover other workers.
In 2024, he was asked to bring in more help, which included Alvaro. The brothers said they worked full shifts, with Juan receiving $2,500 per week and Alvaro paid $270 per day.
Trouble began in March 2024, when Alvaro allegedly fell from scaffolding described in the suit as “dangerous and defective.”
The fall left him unconscious, and the filing claimed he was taken to urgent care before being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Alvaro said he was bedridden for six months and unable to return to work until December 2024, when he was paid less than before.
The brothers allege that Derulo later asked Alvaro to sign a waiver releasing him from liability in exchange for continued pay.
When he refused, they claim Juan was fired, reducing his weekly income by more than half.
Both men said the ordeal caused them emotional distress, including “anxiety, humiliation and loss of dignity.”
In his response, Derulo argued that any injuries were not caused by him but by third parties or “an Act of God.”
His legal team also accused the brothers of negligence and insisted that they contributed to their own injuries.
Derulo is asking the court to dismiss the case entirely, while his family has yet to issue a formal response. The legal battle remains ongoing.
