Adam Sandler speaks out after Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s sudden drowning

Adam Sandler shared an emotional message after Malcolm-Jamal Warner sadly passed away at 54 in Costa Rica.
The two actors worked together on The Cosby Show, where Sandler played Smitty in the late 1980s.
Warner was already known for his role as Theo Huxtable. However, Sandler spoke about the loss in a recent interview and said he would always remember the moments they shared.
He shared, “I can’t believe it. Malcolm was so nice to me when I was on the show and we had such good times together.
We would take walks together, all of us, pick up food, talk play basketball – got to parties together.
‘He was so good to me as a person and his mom was amazing to us, and I’m just sending my love to the family.
‘Malcolm was a true great person, a hilarious smart kid and he meant a lot to America.”
Warner drowned while swimming at a beach on Sunday. Reports said no lifeguards were on duty at the time. Another man who was with him was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Local lifeguards from the Playa Grande area later said they were not present due to a shortage of help and equipment.
“We deeply regret the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner at Playa Grande. He was swept away by a strong rip current and died by drowning,’ the Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica’s volunteer lifeguard association shared on their Facebook on Monday.
‘It all happened very quickly, and although there were people on the beach who entered the water to rescue him, they did not arrive in time.’
‘He was pulled from under water without vital signs, and despite CPR maneuvers being performed on the beach, resuscitation was unsuccessful,” they continued.
Fans and former co-stars have continued to share their love and memories as they mourn the unexpected loss of Warner.
