Kim Kardashian spoke out against the public scrutiny and criticism surrounding her daughter, North West’s, fashion choices.
The 45-year-old reality star reacted to a video claiming that North, 12, “worries fans with new look,” which prompted social media users to write, “she’s just 12 years old,” and “why isn’t Kim looking after what she wears.”
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star commented on the video, “This is such a non-issue [crying emoji],” via her and North’s joint TikTok account.
Kim’s daughter, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kanye West, has a distinct fashion sense that leans towards being edgy and experimental. She shared a video of herself and her friends flying out for a concert with fake tattoos, nose piercings, a tooth grill, and coloured contacts.
The video quickly became controversial with several fans urging Kim to oversee her daughter’s bold choices, which conventionally seem inappropriate for her age.
The socialite has faced criticism over North’s style for a long while now. Recently, during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the mom of four spoke about the difficulties she faces as a parent under the public eye.
“I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world. As a mom, you’re kind of like learning at the same time,” said the SKIMS founder, asking people for “a little bit of grace.”
