Keith Urban found himself caught in fresh romance rumors just weeks after his split from Nicole Kidman, and now fellow country singer Alexandra Kay has spoken up to clear the air.
Kay, who is close friends with 25-year-old musician Maggie Baugh, addressed speculation that Urban was dating his guitarist following the breakup.
Speaking to Taste of Country, the Backroad Therapy singer said the rumours were completely false.
“She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true,” Kay said.
“I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy. She has nothing to do with that whole relationship.”
The singer, who rose to fame with her soulful country ballads and viral coffee videos, also expressed sympathy for everyone involved.
“I feel sad for everybody that people are picking apart their personal life,” she added. “I pray for peace for them.”
Urban, 57, was first linked to Baugh and singer Kelsea Ballerini after reports surfaced that he moved on following his divorce from Kidman.
Fans speculated further when Urban appeared to change the lyrics of a song to include Baugh’s name during a show.
Kidman filed for divorce on September 30 after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
However, the actress requested to be the primary residential parent of their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The couple, who tied the knot in Sydney church in 2006, reportedly struggled to spend time together due to their busy filming and touring schedules.
Despite the split, sources claimed that there was still “a lot of love” between them.
