Jimmy Fallon is mourning the death of his beloved family member, pet dog Gary.
In an Instagram post on Monday, October 20, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host penned an emotional message for the furry pal, who was the last name the heartbroken pet owners signed on every birthday card.
“She was our first baby, a therapist, a pillow, a big sister, a schoolmarm, a comedian, a party girl and a rebel,” he wrote alongside a carousel of photos featuring the late companion. “Definitely not a watchdog—she would have let burglars in and shown them where we kept the bacon and American cheese slices.”
The American comedian and television host continued, writing, “Franny, Winnie, Mommy and I miss you. The house misses you.”
“The house is so quiet. The quiet is so loud. But that quiet is slowly being filled with stories about you and laughter amongst the sniffles,” he concluded the heartfelt tribute. “Thank you for everything. Gosh, we miss you so much. Goodnight, Gary.”
Sharing a sweet memory of his 13 and a half year old dog, the 51-year-old recalled that right after taking a bath she would jump straight into the pool, swim a few laps, and then roll in the grass, kicking her legs and sticking out her tongue.
The series of photos captured Gary through the years, including an image with Fallon and another with his wife and the couple’s daughters.
Fallon shares two daughters Frannie, 10, and Winny, 12, with wife Nancy Juvonen, 58.
