‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ role ‘blacked out’ Pauline Chalamet

The Devil Wears Prada, two decades after first the move hits theaters, a new face is joining the stylish showdown.
Pauline Chalamet has been cast in The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside returning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman.
The highly anticipated sequel also adds Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall to the cast.
Speaking about her reaction to landing the role, Chalamet admitted she was stunned.
“I blacked out. So I don’t remember,” she told PEOPLE.
“I kind of didn’t believe it until I was given dates. I kind of went, ‘Oh, you pranked me, that’s not really going to happen.’ And then I was given the blueprint for the looks.”
The actress also praised the 2006 original, calling it “a perfect movie.” She added, “It’s so fun. I’m 100 percent an Andie. I can’t even pretend I’m not. With dreams of being a Miranda.”
Directed by David Frankel, the first film followed Hathaway’s Andy, a young journalist who lands a coveted role as assistant to Streep’s icy fashion editor, Miranda Priestly, a job that quickly takes a toll on her personal life.
The sequel is currently filming in New York and is set for release on May 1, 2026.
But while fans eagerly await its arrival, many moments have already surfaced online.
Paparazzi and bystanders have captured footage of Hathaway’s Andy sprinting down city sidewalks and Streep’s Miranda ascending the Met Gala steps, with some clips even picking up dialogue from the set.
Producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff, known for her work on Joker, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Irishman, voiced concern over the leaks, explaining that such exposure can create challenges for a production.
“It can be costly to the production in some circumstances, because you have to beef up security, especially when you have huge talent,” she said.
