Man claiming to be Jay-Z’s secret son drops federal lawsuit: Reports

Rymir Satterthwaite, the man who has long claimed to be the secret son of rap mogul Jay-Z, has pulled the plug on his most recent federal lawsuit, though he insists the battle is far from over. On 18 July, court records confirmed that Satterthwaite officially withdrew the case, marking another dramatic twist in a saga that has stretched back to 2010.

Decade-long paternity drama takes another turn
Over the weekend, Satterthwaite took to social media to tell his side of the story. He explained that he had indeed withdrawn the lawsuit, but hinted at larger forces at play, claiming there is “a lot going on behind closed doors.” He maintained that the case was just one of many moving parts and emphasised that he still had not received a DNA test from Jay-Z, nor had he accepted a settlement.
Chile… #JayZ is doing everything but taking that DNA test 👀. He just filed two 40-page motions asking the judge to dismiss #RymirSatterthwaite’s paternity case again. He’s claiming the court doesn’t even have the right to hear it.

Jay-Z says enough is enough
Jay-Z’s legal team, meanwhile, is not holding back. In their latest court response, they argued that Satterthwaite and his legal guardian had been filing “frivolous” lawsuits for years. The rapper’s lawyers pointed out that a different man was legally declared Satterthwaite’s father back in 1994, and that the courts had repeatedly rejected the claims against Jay-Z.

They described the newest complaint as a blatant attempt to bypass a 2022 court injunction that banned Satterthwaite from filing any further related lawsuits in New Jersey without prior approval. That injunction, according to court documents, was issued after multiple attempts to revive the paternity claim had already failed.
Satterthwaite insists there’s more to the story
Despite being hit with legal setbacks, Satterthwaite remains adamant. In a statement to Us Weekly, he claimed he was never properly informed of the injunction and that all orders issued in New Jersey courts were being appealed. He continues to allege that Jay-Z’s legal team engaged in fraud to block due process and avoid a paternity test.

He also pushed back against claims his mother had identified another man as his father, saying she was a minor at the time of his birth and still stood by her account that Jay-Z is his biological dad.
Rymir Satterthwaite plans to refile a civil lawsuit against Jay-Z — but not for a paternity test.
Like before, he’ll be seeking money instead.

What happens next?
Jay-Z, who shares three children with Beyoncé, has never publicly acknowledged Satterthwaite. Though this case may be closed, the long-running drama is far from done. If Satterthwaite’s next “chess move” is anything like his past plays, this legal saga might just resurface once again.
