Asia-Pacific markets trade mixed after Wall Street gains on strong jobs report

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed Friday after Wall Street gained on a better-than-expected jobs report eased investors’ concerns of a slowdown in the U.S. economy.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 benchmark moved up 0.23% in choppy trade while the broader Topix index added 0.17%.

In South Korea, the Kospi index fell 1.09% while the small-cap Kosdaq declined by 1.51%.

Mainland China’s CSI 300 index started the day 0.11% lower, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 1.43%.

Over in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 increased by 0.21%.
