Upcoming Stock Market Holiday: The Indian stock market—including both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)—will remain closed on Wednesday, August 27, on account of Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most cherished Hindu festivals marking the birth of Lord Ganesha.
According to the official NSE trading holiday calendar, August 27 is designated a statutory holiday for Shri Ganesh Chaturthi across multiple market segments—including equities, derivatives, and commodities.

Ganesh Chaturthi in 2025 is celebrated on Wednesday, August 27, with festivities culminating in Visarjan (immersion of the idol) on Saturday, September 6. In many states—such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana—the occasion is observed as a public holiday, with schools and government offices also closed to allow communities to participate in rituals and processions
Banks, too, are scheduled to remain closed on the same day as part of broader banking holiday lists in several states
MCX Holiday On Ganesh Chaturthi
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed for trading during the morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. However, trading will resume in the evening session from 5:00 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm, as per the official holiday schedule. This means commodity traders will get only half a day of trading activity on the festival day.
