It was agreed to change the rules and regulations of the 93rd Oscar Awards for the year 2021 for one year due to the corona virus to merge the categories of sound mixing and sound editing for the Oscars.
According to US media, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has traditionally considered only films that have been screened in Los Angeles cinemas for at least seven days to be eligible for the Oscars, but because of the corona virus. The Oscar Awards for 2021 will include films that have not been released in cinemas.
It is to be noted that the announcement made by the academy on Tuesday said that films which were already scheduled to be screened in cinemas and which are now available on commercial streaming will also be eligible for the 93rd awards to be held next year. Academy President David Robin and CEO Dan Hudson say the new law is a temporary exemption. The year is scheduled for February 28
