Tom Holland reflects on almost 4 years of sobriety

Tom Holland is celebrating a new chapter in his life as he marks nearly three and a half years of sobriety.
The Spider-Man star, 29, reflected on the milestone during an interview with Esquire on Tuesday, Sept. 9, saying, “It feels amazing. A little bit like a brand-new identity almost.”
The actor also spoke about the progress of his non-alcoholic beer brand, Bero, which has become an important project for him.
“I’m really proud of it. Every day we’re making big steps in the right direction, and we’re growing every day, thinking of new ways to innovate and coming up with new ideas for products,” Holland shared.
He added that fans can expect “exciting stuff” coming this winter and next summer, calling the journey “an ever-changing, ever-growing process.”
Earlier this year, Holland told Men’s Health that his relationship with alcohol often led to excess.
“My problem was that I would have one drink and be fine, and then I would just go too far,” he explained.
He admitted there were times when he struggled with cravings, but recalled the advice of his lawyer, who told him, “You’ll never wake up the morning after a night out and wish you had a drink.”
Holland originally joined Dry January in 2022 with the intention of staying sober only for a month. But he quickly realized how much alcohol had taken over his routine.
“Every Friday after work was a write-off: Let’s get drunk and have a good time. I didn’t have bad experiences, but I would drink enough so that I would ruin my next day,” he said.
Alongside celebrating his sobriety, Holland has also stepped back into his iconic role as Peter Parker.
The actor has officially started filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in the franchise, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Holland shared that this time around, he has been more involved creatively, especially when it came to designing his new suit.
“What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve,” he told LADbible.
The upcoming film will star Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Michael Mando, and is set to release worldwide on July 31, 2026.
