Zara Noor reconnects with Kathak and herself

On Wednesday, Zara Noor Abbas graced her Instagram with a black and white reel that felt like a whisper from the heart: poetic, and pulsing with rediscovered rhythm. Dancing to Sunidhi Chauhan’s evocative track Voh Tere Mere Ishq Ka, Zara offered a visual treat. But she also shared a moment of vulnerability and empowerment in equal measure.

Set on a quiet balcony, the reel captures her in a traditional black pishwas, its gentle flair mirroring the grace in her movements. Her hands, adorned with mehendi, moved with expressive fluidity, each mudra speaking of return, not just to Kathak, but to herself. The choice to shoot in monochrome only deepened the emotional resonance, focusing the viewer on the subtleties of her footwork, her eyes, and the story unfolding between the beats.

Her caption read like a diary entry. “So I realised that I stopped practicing dance since I had been pregnant, for obvious reasons,” she began. But what followed was a reflection many women can relate to, how life, in all its beautiful chaos, can sometimes blur one’s connection with the self. “I felt my feminine energy and my expression was being ignored,” Zara wrote, pushing back against the inertia of self-doubt and the mundanity that often accompanies new routines and responsibilities.

She added, “So I aligned my heart with the Taal. Kathak, you never really leave me,” framing her return to dance as a personal reconnection. “I find some peace and some of myself in every step. Maybe I’m missing the finesse but my emotions are in the right place,” she concluded, acknowledging the gap between technical skill and emotional intent.

Bushra Ansari lit up the comments section of her niece’s IG, writing, “That’s like my good girl. Please don’t stop now.” The veteran suggested that Zara practise the art form once a week, capping her praise with a string of applause emojis.

Recently, Zara has been embracing motherhood with heartfelt grace. In an Instagram post in March, the Badshah Begum actor wrote a touching tribute to her daughter Noore Jahan on her first birthday. Marking the milestone, Zara reflected on a year filled with love, growth, and gratitude. Sharing photos from the celebration, she described her daughter as “the love of my life” and “my heart.”
