Sam Nivola, who plays Lochlan in The White Lotus season 3, finally addressed the most asked questions by fans.
The 21-year-old actor joked that he has been asked the question a “thousand times” of why his character, Lochlan didn’t wash the blender that contained a poisonous concoction before drinking it.
Speaking of the moment Lochlan nearly dies in the episode, Nivola said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, “My answer is that I was expecting that Saxon [his character’s older brother, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger] had made a protein shake in it.”
During his interview on Monday, April 7th, the actor continued, “I didn’t know — I thought it was just leftover protein. So I’m like, ‘You know what? A little extra protein never hurt anybody,’ I’m not that much of an idiot!”
In the same interview, Nivola also addressed the fan theories making rounds all over social media and admitted he doesn’t “read a lot of that stuff.”
However, he said the fans were right at guessing one thing. “The rule of threes thing,” he said. “I don’t know if anyone saw that, but someone posted a theory that was like, you know, Chelsea says in the beginning bad things come in threes. And there’s the three kids and the three women and all these threes.”
Stopping himself before revealing the spoiler, he asked Fallon, “And then, I mean, am I allowed or should I not say a spoiler?”
After getting the green light, he said, “Three people die!,” referring to the deaths of Jim, Chelsea, and Rick in the last episode.
