MS Dhoni steered Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a thrilling five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), chasing down a target of 167 in the final over of a tense IPL 2025 clash on Monday.

Dhoni, who also captained the side, played a vital late cameo, scoring 26 runs to seal the victory. Shivam Dube anchored the chase with a composed 44, as CSK recovered from a mid-innings wobble after a strong start.

Earlier in the evening, Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant struck his first half-century of the season, scoring 63 to help his side reach 166 for 7. He held one end together after early wickets fell and Nicholas Pooran failed to make an impact.

CSK bowlers kept things tight, with Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad delivering economical spells. Behind the stumps, Dhoni put on a masterclass in wicketkeeping, drawing praise for his sharp reflexes and guidance.

During the chase, CSK looked in control early on but stumbled through the middle overs, losing quick wickets. However, a steady partnership between Dube and Dhoni pulled them back into the contest.

With five wickets down and the required rate climbing, Dhoni kept his composure to finish the game in the final over—reigniting memories of his classic finishing prowess.
