ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday summoned a relevant representative of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) on the next date of hearing.
A five-member constitutional bench – headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan – heard a suo motu case of kidnapping of children across the country. The petitioner reminded the court that it had ordered the attorney general to meet with all the inspector of generals of police (IGPs) but no such meeting had taken place so for. Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Aamir Rehman informed the court that attorney general had held meeting with the IGPs. The petitioner submitted that although organizations had been established in the country for protection of children but they were not working. Justice Amin that those who required to do their job should do it. The additional attorney general submitted before the court that the law pertaining to the protection of children was in force. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel remarked that the laws were there but not being implemented in letter and spirit. Later, the court summoned a relevant representative of the National Commission for the Protection of Children on the next date of hearing and adjourned the matter for date-in-office (indefinite period).
