A live cockroach was found in the intestine of an Indian citizen suffering from indigestion

New Delhi - Doctors at a hospital in India were shocked when they found a 3cm live cockroach in the small intestine of a patient suffering from stomach pain and indigestion.

A 23-year-old man recently came to Fortis Hospital in New Delhi complaining of an upset stomach that he had been experiencing for about three days.

The citizen complained of severe stomach pain and difficulty in digesting food. In the details, the man said that he had eaten street food in the market a few days ago and suspected that his health had deteriorated due to this food.

Doctors decided the best course of action would be to perform an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, hoping to discover the cause of the symptoms.

Doctors found the cause they least expected, a live cockroach in the citizen's small intestine.

Dr Shubham Vatsia told The Indian Express that it was during a routine check-up that we chanced upon the cockroach. We even wondered how the cockroach managed to survive
