Kangaroo escapes from prison in Czech Republic, search continues

Prague - Police in the Czech Republic are on the hunt for an unusual prison escapee, a kangaroo.

Two kangaroos escaped from Jerez prison, southeast of the capital Prague, but one kangaroo later returned on its own while the other is still at large, prison officials said.

Police are still looking for the other kangaroo, said prison representative Marketa Prunerova.

Marketa urged the public not to approach the kangaroo if they see it, but to contact the police immediately.

It should be noted that there are many animals locked in Jaris prison, including rabbits, llamas and roosters.

All of the animals are part of a prison program used to treat inmates near the end of their incarceration, where inmates learn other skills, including animal husbandry.
