The Lahore High Court ordered the immediate release of PTI activist Sanam Javed.

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court directed the immediate release of PTI activist Sanam Javed, who was detained in connection with the Gujranwala case.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal issued a 14-page written judgment on Javed's plea. The court criticized Javed's repeated arrest as an abuse of the legal system, saying that the continued detention despite his previous release appeared to be an attempt to weaken the judiciary.

The judgment said that detention orders were issued by the Deputy Commissioners of Lahore and Gujranwala while Javed was already in custody. The court hoped that future actions of deputy commissioners would uphold constitutional rights, and directed that the judgment be shared with judicial officers, IG Punjab and all deputy commissioners.

The judgment emphasized that there was no concrete evidence linking Javed to the case and dismissed Gujranwala's allegations as baseless. The Deputy Prosecutor General confirmed that there were no additional cases pending against Javed, thus ordering his immediate release from jail.
