MUMBAI - Bollywood director David Dhawan and veteran actor Govinda had a golden partnership in the 1990s and together they made 17 hit films. In a recent interview, 72-year-old David Dhawan recalled the good times and claimed that only the actor could handle Govinda. When asked about Govinda's bad reputation for laziness and late arrival on set, he dismissed it as unimportant, saying that the work was always done on time.
He said about Salman Khan and Govinda's partner film that initially Salman was not ready while senior actor Anil Kapoor felt insecure about David Dhawan and Govinda's close relationship. Govinda naturally has great skill in dialogue or improvising things on his own, which made our duo successful he said.

There was a special code between us about not working a scene, I would say rubber hai scene, long, stretched, to which Govinda would say, David, I give the whole scene in one shot. David also spoke about working with Salman Khan on this occasion and said that at first, he was not interested in the film 'Partner' but then I took him on board.
