Sheila Jackson Lee, 74, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, died on Friday, according to media reports.
In September 2022, the Government of Pakistan awarded Sheila Jackson with the Hilal-e-Pakistan in recognition of her services.
Sheila Jackson Lee has been a member of Congress for the past three decades and has been a voice in Congress for the majority of the Hispanic, black, and Pakistani communities.
Sheila Jackson had deep connections with the Pakistani community, in the past when a delegation of Pakistani journalists came to America, she not only welcomed them but also gave them felicitation certificates from the Congress.
