Meghan Markle Surprised by Suits Revival

Meghan Markle earned a whopping six figures from Suits Globally

Meghan Markle has reportedly raked in a hefty six-figure sum from global sales of her TV drama Suits, as revealed by The Mail on Sunday.

Despite ending in 2019, the series has seen a remarkable resurgence on Netflix, securing distribution in over 240 territories worldwide. The revival has resulted in recurring fees that have contributed to the significant earnings of its cast, including Meghan Markle.

NBCUniversal, which handles sales of the series, has not disclosed specific royalty details, but estimates suggest the Duchess of Sussex could have earned around $200,000 (£155,000) from Netflix alone.

This income is in addition to what she earned per episode during her tenure as fiery paralegal Rachel Zane from 2011 to 2017, when she left the show on her engagement to Prince Harry.

Instead of fading into obscurity, Suits made headlines in 2023 for its extraordinary performance on Netflix and Peacock, becoming the most-streamed show of the year and dominating the charts for 12 consecutive weeks.

After his amazing success on streaming platforms like Netflix, he has likely made a lot of money from the reboot of his TV drama suite.

The BBC recently acquired the UK rights to iPlayer, reportedly beating out ITV for the deal, although financial details are unknown, including any potential earnings for the Duchess.

When asked about the show's unexpected popularity last year, Meghan expressed surprise at its newfound popularity, describing it as 'wild'. According to NBC sources, major actors like Meghan receive royalties from global sales, known as 'residuals'.

Media sources estimate that Netflix paid around $37.5 million (£29.5 million) to license the suit, with the actors possibly earning a percentage of that amount.
