Lahore - On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Uzma Bukhari, and Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq reviewed the measures taken to maintain law and order on the occasion of Ashura Muharram. The provincial ministers were given a detailed briefing on the cleaning, patchwork, encroachments and wall chalking, lighting arrangements and security, and other necessary arrangements on the routes of the processions regarding Muharram.


On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Punjab Uzma Bukhari said that the processions are being directly monitored through CCTV cameras. Pak Army and Rangers troops are also present to assist the police. On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, food and refreshments are being organized for the first time for the mourners in the entire province. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, special arrangements are being made to serve the women, elderly, and children participating in the processions. Trained personnel of the Health Department and Rescue 1122 are present along with the processions to provide first aid to the mourners.

The Provincial Information Minister said that if the road is closed due to the procession, the traffic police should ensure alternative routes, and the people should not be worried. No one can allow communal content on social media. Pakistan belongs to all of us, no one can be allowed to spread hatred.

On this occasion, Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq directed to make the best drainage and water arrangements on the procession route during rains. He said that the administration should prepare its plan in case of rain. He reviewed the sanitation, rainwater drainage, patchwork, encroachment, and wall chalking, lighting arrangements security, and other necessary arrangements on the procession routes and took a briefing on the spot.


Further, the Provincial Minister of Information and Culture while talking to the media said that the administrative and security measures of the district administration and police are satisfactory. He said that the mission of establishing peace and order during Muharram is going on. A policy of zero tolerance is being adopted for violating the code of conduct during Muharram. Information Minister Uzma Bukhari while talking to the media on his visit to Gujra said that exemplary arrangements are being made for Muharram this year on the instructions of the Chief Minister.
