Islamabad - The French Football Federation has filed a complaint against Argentina with FIFA, the governing body of world football.
The French Football Federation (FFF) said on Tuesday it had sued world football's governing body after members of its football team shouted racist chants at French players after Argentina won the Copa America tournament. The body, FIFA, has decided to file a complaint and take legal action.
Strict notice should be taken of insulting French footballers at home and abroad.
In a statement, FFF president Philippe Diallo strongly condemned the unacceptable racist and discriminatory remarks against the players of the French team.
French Sports Minister Amelie O'Dea Castaera called the Argentine's remarks deplorable and called on FIFA to take action against him.
In a statement on social media platform X, he said, "This behavior is highly unacceptable as it has been repeated. FIFA your reaction?
Which slogan was used?
Midfielder Enzo Fernandez posted a video on Instagram on the bus carrying Argentina's players after Sunday's Copa America victory over Colombia in Miami.
In it, Argentina players are seen singing a song related to the World Cup soccer final in 2022. Argentina defeated France in the final match.
Argentina beat France to become the world champion of football
The song targets French star striker Kylian Mbappe and contains homophobic slurs.
The song also mocks French players of African descent.
It should be noted that ever since Argentina and France lost to champions France in the final of the 2018 World Cup football, there has been a fierce rivalry between Argentina and France on the field of play.
The FFF also filed a complaint against racist comments on social media two years ago, when videos taken during World Cup celebrations in Buenos Aires showed racist chants against Mbappe.
