Star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on Wednesday expressed his desire to end Pakistan's 32-year wait for an Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Games.

Pakistan last won a medal at the Olympics during the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona, ​​but Arshad is hopeful of making the country famous once again.

I am fit and well prepared and I have worked hard for this prestigious event he told reporters in Lahore. I think I can achieve my goal of winning a medal.

I will continue my training in Paris to improve further before participating in the event and if everything goes as planned, I will win a medal for the country at the Olympics, he added.

Arshad Nadeem will participate in the qualification round on August 6 with the final scheduled two days later.

Notably, Pakistan will participate in shooting, athletics, and swimming in the Paris Olympics. Four of the seven athletes qualified directly while sprinter Faiqa Riaz and swimmers Jahanara Nabi and Muhammad Ahmed Durrani will compete in the sport's biggest event on a global basis.

Pakistan failed to qualify in major disciplines like hockey, wrestling, volleyball, boxing, and weightlifting.
