New York - A woman walking on the beach in America found the world's oldest letter. According to Mail Online, 49-year-old Amy Smith Murphy was walking on the beach in the US state of New Jersey when she spotted a very unique bottle. Out of curiosity, he picked up the bottle and found a piece of paper in it which surprisingly was a letter written in 1876.


According to the report, Yacht Neptune off Atlantic City, New Jersey was written by hand on the paper coming out of the bottle. Aug, 6 - 76". After researching the bottle and letter paper, Amy Smith Murphy concluded that the year 76 written on the letter is actually 1876.

The bottle in which this letter was sealed had the company name 'Barr & Brother Philadelphia' written on it. According to the valuation website 'Worthpoint', this company made glass products between 1870 and 1900.
