The Abbottabad bench of the Peshawar High Court granted Kifayatullah bail
Peshawar – Mufti Kifayatullah, the central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has been released from Central Jail Haripur. According to details, JUI leader Mufti Kifayatullah has been released on bail in the treason case. The procession reached Mansehra. The Abbottabad bench of the Peshawar High Court granted bail. Justice Shakeel Ahmed ordered Mufti Kifayatullah to submit 500,000 bonds in exchange for bail.
After his release, Mufti Kifayatullah said that he had gone on a hunger strike for life due to the inhuman treatment of the prison administration. Meetings were banned. Prayers were not allowed. Heart disease, diabetes, eyes, teeth, and There are many other diseases.
Talking to the media, Mufti Kifayatullah’s lawyer Bilal Khan said that his client would be released by Monday after fulfilling the legal requirements.
He said the date of the next hearing would be announced by the court later. Lawyers for the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Muhammad Bilal Khan, Kamran Murtaz, and Ahmad Ali Shah appeared in the court while government lawyers Additional Advocate General Raja Zubair and Assistant General Sardar Muhammad Asif also appeared. It may be recalled that Mufti Kifayatullah was arrested by Mansehra Police on April 14, 2021. A case was registered against him under Sections 503, 505, 506, 21A, 124A, 131A, and 153A of the Pakistan Penal Code.
It may be recalled that in a meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, it was decided that Mufti Kifayatullah should be arrested on charges of treason for using inappropriate words against state institutions on a private television show. Mufti Kifayatullah went into hiding after the case was registered, but was arrested by police after he came to light.
