Great relief for widows and orphans of government employees

The wives and children of government employees were also declared entitled to full pension

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared the wives and children of government employees entitled to a full pension. Heard the appeals of the Provincial Secretary Finance and Accountant General Punjab against the decision.

The court issued a 13-point written verdict. The court rejected the appeals and upheld the February 15, 2019 decision of the single bench of the Lahore High Court. Decisions will not be made at all. If a man or woman retires after service or employment, his or her family is entitled to a full pension.

Similarly, a woman employee will be entitled to a full pension after her death or retirement. In case of the death of the widow of the former employee, her children will be entitled to this pension. It should be noted in the report published on 02 August 2019. It was informed that the Lahore High Court has declared non-payment of pension to government employees who resigned before retirement as a violation of the constitution and law.

Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of the Lahore High Court wrote in his landmark judgment that every government employee has the right to receive a pension. He rejected the reply of the Railways, ordering payment of pension to the old wife of the railway employee who resigned before retirement. The Lahore High Court ruled in favor of Chandni Asad, a weak widow of the late railway employee, and ordered the issuance of pension.

In its judgment, the court questioned why the railways did not take action when the late Asad was on deputation to the PCB. Justice Ali Baqir Najafi said in his judgment that the unpaid leave recognized was not due to the duration of the pension. The Railways recognized Asad Ahmed Aziz as a regular employee
