Yesterday, Peshawar police charged the protesting teachers with batons and arrested 21 teachers, including nine university professors. He was later released on bail. The University Teachers Association has directed university teachers and officials across the province to protest against the government’s bigotry in their area.
On the other hand, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has condemned the police violence against teachers in Peshawar. The PPP chairman said that baton charge and tear gas shelling on respected teachers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a deplorable practice. Bilawal Bhutto also said that professors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities have been protesting for five days and the government has not been able to at least listen to their problems.
The PPP chairman said that what a strange increase in the economic growth rate that the budget of educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being cut. Bilawal Bhutto also said that the federal government of PPP has given less budget to the universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PPP chairman said that the government, which has been cutting staff allowances in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities, was also making claims of economic growth.
Bilawal Bhutto also said that on the one hand the budget of the universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been reduced and on the other hand the students are being oppressed by increasing the fees of the universities. In his statement, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded that more than 15 teachers injured by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police be given medical treatment and that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police release the arrested staff of the province’s universities immediately.
