A panel of Chair Ayaz Sadiq administered the oath to Raja Pervez Ashraf
ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly session started under the chairmanship of the Panel of Chair Ayaz Sadiq. PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of the National Assembly. He took oath as Speaker National Assembly.
A panel of Chair Ayaz Sadiq administered the oath to Raja Pervez Ashraf. Raja Pervez Ashraf was congratulated by his fellow members.
Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the National Assembly because no one other than him submitted nomination papers for the election of the Speaker.
Khursheed Shah and Naveed Qamar. In case of uncontested victory, notification of the election of the PPP leader as Speaker National Assembly will be issued under Rules.
It may be recalled that former Speaker Asad Qaiser had resigned from the post of Speaker while refusing to vote on the no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri has also resigned from the post. The office of the Secretary National Assembly has received the resignation of the Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court against the decision of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri to convene a meeting of the National Assembly late.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Amir Farooq, and Justice Babar Sattar will hear the case. ۔ Lawyers Mansoor Awan and Zainab Janjua filed the petition on behalf of Murtaza Javed Abbasi of PML-N.
The candidate fought that the round dated April 13 in which the gathering was suspended till April 22 was illegal and accordingly the Deputy Speaker ought to be coordinated to meet a quick gathering for the appointment of the Speaker Assembly.
The Secretary Assembly should be directed to convene a meeting on April 16 while the Deputy Speaker should be restrained from exercising the powers of the Speaker National Assembly.
