Prominent religious scholar Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman Sanbhali passed away due to a long illness


New Delhi – Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman Sanbhali, a renowned religious scholar, author, and elder of the Nomani family, has passed away at the age of 95 after a long illness.

According to details, Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman Sanbhali was a prominent scholar and author of many important and thought-provoking books. Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman Sanbhali was the eldest son of Hazrat Maulana Manzoor Nomani. Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman Sanbhali Islam used Hazrat Madani. Maulana Asad Madani and Maulana Muhammad Salem Qasmi were his classmates.

After graduating, he was the long-time editor of Al-Furqan. In the sixties, along with his younger brother Hafeez Nomani, he launched the weekly Nadai-e-Millat under the patronage of Maulana Ali Mian and Maulana Manzoor Nomani. During this period he played an active role in the establishment of the Muslim Consultative Council. His essays were very thought-provoking in his time.

Maulana had moved to the UK several decades ago due to his ill health but a few years ago he had moved back to Delhi and was staying with his son Maulana Obaid-ur-Rehman Sanbhali due to illness.
