Foreign funding case scrutiny committee to be activated soon Chief Election Commissioner


ISLAMABAD – A foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was heard in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

A three-member commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner heard the PTI foreign funding case. Petitioner Akbar S. Babar and Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib appeared before the Election Commission. 

A PTI representative informed the Election Commission that the lawyers were busy in the Supreme Court and therefore could not come. The hearing should be adjourned till Anwar Mansoor returns from the Supreme Court.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the date of today’s hearing was fixed for consultation. Akbar S. Babar’s lawyer said that PTI has already filed most of the adjournment petitions even before today, the cases will continue day by day. 

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the Election Commission had not received any reply from the petitioner and PTI. Lawyer Akbar S. Babar said that we got a record late, it would take 20 days for preparation. Member Sindh Election Commission told Akbar S. Babar’s lawyer that you are also not ready to give arguments.

 The ECP adjourned the case till March 1, giving two weeks’ time.
