David Duchovny makes big claim about TV business
David Duchovny reportedly thinks that TV has changed ever since Netflix gained popularity.
In a new chat with Telegraph, the 64-year-old acting sensation claimed that the streaming platform has wrecked TV “in a way”.
Sharing his two cents on the matter, David expressed that he found it hard to believe that nowadays any programme could have the longevity or the reach of his former show, The X-Files.
For those unversed, the show in discussion ran from 1993 to 2002 and another series in 2016 and also spawned two spin-off films.
Speaking further, the actor told the outlet, “Netflix kind of f***** the business in a way.”
He went on to explain, “Well, I mean, look at The X-Files, which had a foothold on the culture and then lasted. Now, there’s just so much – things become incandescent for a year or two and then they just fade away.”
“The X-Files frame is evergreen in terms of generating stories, and especially today,” he further added referring to the X-Files reboot being developed by Ryan Coogler.
However, the original stars such as David will not be against playing Fox Mulder opposite Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully.
