ISLAMABAD – PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has reacted to the death sentence of Zahir Jaffer, the main culprit in the Noor Muqaddam murder case. The site tweeted that Zahir Jafar’s crimes were not limited to rape and murder. Zahir Jafar used money and influence to attack the victim’s reputation.
Maryam Nawaz said that this is probably the only crime where the victim becomes an accused.
It may be recalled that a local court in Islamabad had sentenced Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, to death.
Islamabad District and Sessions Court Judge Ata Rabbani while delivering the verdict in the case, sentenced the main accused Zahir Jaffer to death.
Sessions Court issues are written verdict in Noor Muqaddam murder case The written verdict said that the convict Zahir Jaffer was sentenced to death and fined Rs 500,000 for murder. According to the written decision, the crime of rape was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 200,000. Zahir Jaffer was convicted under sections 201, 364, 342, 176, 109, and 302, including murder, kidnapping, concealment of crime, and imprisonment without charge.
According to the written verdict, Zahir Jaffer was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and fined Rs 100,000 for kidnapping. Sentenced to one-year imprisonment under section 342. The written decision said that Zahir Jafar should pay the fine to the heirs of the slain. The court ordered that if Zahir Jaffer did not pay the money to his family, his land or any property would be included in the arrears.
Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani, in a four-page judgment in the Noor Muqaddam case, sentenced co-accused watchmen Iftikhar and Mali Jan Mohammad to 10 years imprisonment and acquitted all the accused in the therapy works.
Accused Jan Mohammad was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 under sections 109 and 364. The accused was ordered to pay 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 under section 368.
The accused was sentenced to one-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs one lakh under section 176. The written verdict said that the accused Iftikhar has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment and a fine of Rs one lakh under section 109. During the hearing, lawyers, employees of therapy workers, Ismat Adam, mother of the main accused, and plaintiff Shaukat Muqaddam appeared with their lawyers. Besides, four arrested accused including main accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer were produced in the court while the judge had evicted all the persons including lawyers from the courtroom.
The judge ordered the police to go out and talk to all the arrested persons, including the main accused. It may be recalled that 27-year-old Noor was killed on July 20, 2021, in a house in Sector F-7/4 of the posh area of the capital.
