PESHAWAR – A woman presiding officer and her husband were arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) a day before the local body elections on charges of alleged rigging.

Opposition parties had alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate’s marks were being stamped in Neighborhood Councils 33 and 34 in Gore Ghatri tehsil.

As soon as the matter came to light, Provincial Election Commissioner Sharifullah reached the spot. Talking to the media, she said that the presiding officer and her husband have been transferred to the police station, all materials will be handed over to the new staff.

Provincial Election Commissioner clarified that if the polling has not started yet then how can there be rigging, no ballot paper has been spoiled, no concession will be taken from those who disturb the peace.
