As a result of coronary heart disease hospitals in many Indian cities ran out of beds medicines and oxygen
MUMBAI - Twelve ministers in Narendra Modi's cabinet, including the health minister, have resigned after a catastrophic rise in coronavirus cases in India this year, AFP reported. As a result of this resignation, the Indian cabinet has undergone major changes and expansion before the elections in 7 states in 2022.
Harsh Vardhan, a 66-year-old health minister, was sharply criticized for the dramatic increase in cases in April and May and was accused of failing to warn of a new wave of the virus and of easing sanctions prematurely. The growing number of cases is putting increasing pressure on hospitals and health centers, and in many cities and areas, hospitals have run out of beds, medicines, and oxygen.
Before the second wave of epidemics hit, Harsh Vardhan had said that the epidemic in India was about to end. By the end of March, 160,000 people had died in India and the death toll from Corona had crossed 400,000. However, experts believe that the death toll is much higher. Three dozen new faces have been added to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet, bringing the number of ministers from 52 to 77.
More than a dozen of these ministers are from states where elections are to be held, including Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, and these states represent different castes and communities. Four, including Rajiv Chandra Shekhar and Shubha Karandlaji, the millionaire owner of the media house. The members are from the southern state of Karnataka. Several cases have also been registered against Shubha in various police stations for allegedly making anti-Muslim statements.
Apart from Shubha, six more women have been made part of the new cabinet. However, among those who have resigned, surprisingly, Law and Information Technology Minister Shankar Prasad and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Jawadikar have also joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The JP was considered the new face because, according to some reports, the two were handling important party affairs and campaigns in the state elections.
